WELCOME TO ROOM 6!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are off to a wonderful start!  Your children are showing real effort and growth as we begin to tackle multiplication, writing long and strong and reading for meaning.

We had our first Library and Computer Lab sessions last Friday and this was our second week of Club Fit!  Today we had a visit from our LPIE Art instructor Tanya Parmalee.

In Science Lab we have been learning about traits and heredity. Can you roll your tongue?  Do you have red, brown or blonde hair? Freckles?  Those are all traits passed down through DNA - from moms and dad, grandmas and grandpas.

Coming up we will begin the story of Stone Fox during our literature time.  We will continue to focus on small moment narrative writing - adding not only detail, but emotion and voice to our work.

Students received their Reflex Math account information in their Green Homework Folders along with their other homework please have them practice math facts on this site 4 times a week, 10 -15 minutes.     Warmly, Ms. Manzano

Partner Reading Talk

In class students learn to talk about their reading.  Please feel free to use these talking prompts with your child as you read aloud or when they want to share about a book they are reading.

All About Math

Another teacher listed this article about the importance of playing math games - please enjoy the read, it is very enlightening.

https://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/12/opinion/the-importance-of-recreational-math.html?smid=nytcore-ipad-share&smprod=nytcore-ipad&_r=2

On the left hand side of the screen under the online game resources you will find a number of math games that you can print at home.

Listed below are some resources to help you and your students understand where we will be heading in our journey in 3rd grade math, and hold on to your hats 'cause there's a lot!
