K 3 Is The Place To Be!

Spreading Kindness to the Children of Butte County
Spreading Kindness to the Children of Butte County

Hello K3 Families,

This week flew by! We are so lucky that the weather has been so lovely! The children have been enjoying the fresh air at recess and lunch! It is such fun for me to see their friendships growing and strengthening! I love to see them run, dig, swing and climb!

We read lots of books about families, and began reading about the different family traditions each of us may celebrate! Thanks for the help with the traditions homework! Each child got to share their house and read about their tradition! If your child has not brought theirs in yet, I encourage you to help them do so! We have created a fun winter village in our room where we are displaying the houses!

This week we also drew pictures of our families, and wrote about things we like to do with our families! They are so adorable!

In Reader’s Workshop we are continuing to charge up our reading super powers! The children are so excited! We have been practicing reading to our reading buddy, listening to our buddy and trying out different ways to read/perform a read-aloud!

In math this week, we continued to decompose and compose the numbers, 4, 5 and 6. We also worked more with the teen numbers, and played with dreidels and graphed where they landed!

In phonics we focused on the letters “f” and “x.” Next week we will work with the very tricky vowel “i.” We have been working almost daily on listening to the middle parts of words, noticing what vowels we hear! We also started our second book of sight-words this week! Our new words were, “play” and “are.”

This Friday, December 14th, all kindergarten students will be performing in a Holiday Sing. The performance will begin at 9:30, in the multipurpose room. The performance will include upper grades. If your child is a late friend, if possible please have them to school by 9:20. We will be walking over to the multipurpose room together at 9:25. Parking and drop off will be extremely difficult due to the amount of families that may attend. Please plan ahead!  Children are invited to wear their pajamas.  Thanks for the help!

Dec. 21st will be a minimum day for all K students. EVERY kindergartener will attend school 8:15-11:45! We will be having a fun holiday themed celebration from 9-10 that day! Everyone is invited to stop by! The children will have a blast!

Enjoy the day, see all my friends on Monday!- Meghann
