K 3 Is The Place To Be!

Spirit Wednesday
Spirit Wednesday

Hello K3 Families,

It is so hard to believe that the year is almost over! I also hope that you and your child are enjoying their memory book that I made for each of them. I truly hope that I captured a bit of time in the pages of the book! It is such a unique and special year!

This week in reading, we talked about the “oo” sound.  This can be a tricky vowel team as it makes to different sounds, such as “moon or cook.”We are having fun trying out different word sorts!

In writing we started our final unit of“Persuasive Writing.” The students wrote letters trying to convince someone about something.  The students then posted their messages around the room for one another to read.  We had letters ranging from: raise your hand to talk, students wanting play dates and also students convincing their parents to get them an iPhone!  We are having a blast with this lesson!

In math, we worked on “seeing” numbers in different ways. The number eight can be two groups of four, and a group of six and two.  We are also solving lots of story problems! The children love drawing pictures to capture their thinking!

On Friday, our fifth grade came down to celebrate Beach Day! The students found a nice space on the blacktop and colored their favorite sea creatures with chalk! They had such fun together!

This Wednesday is our annual Kindergarten Picnic. Thank you Heddy Botic for reaching out for volunteers! Thank you families for food donations and volunteers! We will be serving a hotdog lunch on Wednesday.  Please have your child wear comfortable clothing, and have them wear sunscreen to school, also please send a water bottle with them on Wednesday! It will be a wonderful way to celebrate the end of school year!

Thursday is the last day of school. All kindergarten children will attend school from 8:15-11:45. Thanks for all the help families! We are going to have a fantastic last week of K! – Meghann
