Volunteers

We'd love to have you join us!

Sixty parent volunteers help classes in the library by checking in returned books, shelving them, and checking out new books to students. Parents may sign up to help at the beginning of the school year or they may contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Sharon Doi, at any time during the year.

There are also opportunities to help with coordinating a 5th grade book club, periodically covering new books, acting as a book reviewer, and more. Contact Mrs. Mattern if you would like to help in any of these areas.

Fundraisers

Our major fundraiser is our Springhill Book Fair, which is held once a year in the fall. Our coordinators, volunteers, and I work together to make this a fun event. Students and their families can choose their purchases from a variety of books in many genres as well as listen to an author reading from his/her books.

Shoppers at Book Fair

We also have "Bargain Book Bonanza" sales the first Tuesday of most months during the school year. Families donate used books and magazines, which our coordinators set up and sell to students during lunch time. The price? 25 cents buys a book, 10 cents a magazine!

Springhill Gift Book Program

Stack of Books Tied Up with Red Ribbon

Students and their families may choose to donate a book to our library in honor of a special person. We add a personalized bookplate and the student donating the book is given the first chance to check it out. This is a great way to honor grandparents, teachers, friends and other special people in your life. It's also a great birthday or thank you present. You contribute something special to our school and promote the enjoyment of good books at the same time!
